The Post-Modern Church
The 21st century has brought major changes to global Christianity through globalization, technology, theological debate, and spiritual renewal. Influential theologians such as N. T. Wright, Miroslav Volf, John Piper, and Tim Keller emphasized faith, reconciliation, justice, and discipleship in modern society. Pentecostal and charismatic movements especially highlighted the work of the Holy Spirit through worship, healing, prayer, and spiritual renewal.
Many churches connected peace with the presence of the Holy Spirit, teaching that true peace comes through reconciliation with God and with others. Despite divisions over doctrine, sexuality, and church authority, Christians increasingly promoted unity, compassion, and social justice in response to war, inequality, and global conflict. The 21st century therefore reflects both theological struggle and renewed emphasis on peace, transformation, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit in Christian life.
